Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Frican Social Talks ("the Platform", "FST", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy applies to all users of FST, including those who access the Platform via Single Sign-On (SSO) from Frican Continental Listings (FCL).

What We Collect

When you register and use Frican Social Talks, we collect:

• Registration data: phone number, optional email address, full name, country, city, password (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot see your password).
• Profile data: job title, company, bio, profile photo, product listings, seeking preferences, feed preferences.
• Activity data: messages sent, connection requests made, news categories viewed, seeking records posted, wall posts.
• Technical data: last active timestamp, account creation date.

We do not collect financial information, payment card data, or government ID documents.

Data Received via Single Sign-On (SSO)

If you access FST by clicking the Frican Social Talks link on Frican Continental Listings, the following data is received from FCL to create or match your FST account:

• Full name (first name + surname from your FCL profile)
• Phone number (used as your unique FST identifier)
• FCL account ID (used only to validate the SSO token — not stored persistently in FST)

This data arrives via a cryptographically signed token that expires after 120 seconds and cannot be reused or intercepted. Once your FST account is created or matched:

• Your FCL listing activity, watchlist, inquiries, and messages are never shared with FST.
• Your FST activity (posts, connections, messages) is never shared back with FCL.
• The two platforms share only your name and phone number for initial identity matching.

You may opt out of SSO access at any time by registering on FST directly with a separate FST-specific password.

How We Use Your Data

• To operate your account and provide Platform features.
• To display your profile to other members for discovery and connection purposes.
• To deliver your personalised news feed based on your selected categories.
• To match your seeking preferences with similar members.
• To moderate the Platform and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
• To understand Platform usage patterns and improve features (aggregate, anonymised analysis only).

What Is Visible to Other Members

• Visible: full name, profile photo, job title, company, country, city, bio, seeking types, product listings, last-active status.
• Not visible: phone number, email address, password, admin notes, SSO token data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data with:

• Frican Continental Listings — only for the purpose of SSO identity matching as described above. FCL does not receive your FST activity data.
• NewsAPI / news providers — only to fetch news content; they do not receive your personal data.
• Legal authorities — if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

Cookies and Session Data

We use a secure session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie contains only your encrypted session reference and cannot be used to access your account from another device. No third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies are currently in use.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If your account is suspended or deleted, your data is retained for up to 90 days before permanent deletion, except where required by law. SSO token data is never stored — it is validated at sign-in and then discarded.

Your Rights

• Access: You can view your own profile data at any time.
• Correction: You can update your profile details at any time via the Profile Edit page.
• Deletion: You may request account deletion via the Feedback page. We will process requests within 30 days.
• Portability: Contact us via Feedback to request an export of your data.

Security

Passwords are stored using SHA-256 hashing. All connections between your browser and the Platform use HTTPS encryption. SSO tokens are signed with HMAC-SHA256 and expire in 120 seconds. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure — use a strong, unique password.

Children

This Platform is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us via Feedback immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify users of material changes via the Platform. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
