Online Safety Guide

Last updated: May 2026  ·  Read before you connect

Frican Social Talks works hard to maintain a safe community. However, no platform can guarantee the identity of every member. Always exercise your own judgement and report anything that feels wrong.

1. Account Security

Password
  • Use a strong, unique password not shared with any other platform
  • Change your password immediately if you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else
  • FST staff will never ask for your password — by message, phone, or email
Phone Number
  • Your phone number is your login identifier — keep it accurate
  • It is not visible to other members on your profile
  • Do not share your phone number publicly in posts or the community wall
  • If your number changes, update it immediately to avoid losing access
If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and report it via the Feedback page.

2. Protecting Your Personal Information

The following information is never appropriate to share with other members on FST, regardless of how trusted they appear:

Your home address
Banking or card details
Bank account numbers
National ID or passport number
Passwords or PINs
Your daily routine or location

Your public profile shows your name, photo, job title, company, country, and city. Think carefully about how much detail you add — you control what is visible.

3. SSO & Sign-In Safety

Frican Social Talks uses Single Sign-On (SSO) from Frican Continental Listings. This means clicking the FST link on the FCL website logs you in automatically. Here is what you need to know:

  • SSO tokens are valid for 120 seconds only and cannot be reused. If you are asked to "click a special link" to log into FST from an external source (WhatsApp, email, SMS), do not click it — this is not how FST works.
  • The only legitimate way to access FST via SSO is through the Frican Continental Listings navigation bar while logged into FCL.
  • No one can send you an SSO link via message. Any message claiming to give you "auto-login access" to FST is a phishing attempt.
  • If you access FST directly (not via FCL), you log in normally with your phone number and password.
Remember: Frican Continental Listings and FST staff will never send you login links via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. Always log in directly through the official website.

4. Connection Requests

Good signs
  • A clear, specific reason for connecting
  • A complete profile with photo, bio, and job title
  • Mutual connections or shared industry
  • A professional and respectful message
Warning signs
  • No reason given or a vague generic reason
  • Blank or very new profile with no photo
  • Immediately asks to move to WhatsApp or email
  • Mentions money, investment, or urgent opportunity

You are never obligated to accept any connection request. Decline without explanation at any time. If a request is inappropriate, use the Report option on their profile.

5. Private Messages

  • Private messages are only between you and your accepted connections. No one else can see them.
  • Be cautious of connections who rapidly push towards financial arrangements, romantic involvement, or requests to help "move funds."
  • Do not send money to anyone you have only met on FST — even after extended conversation.
  • If someone's tone suddenly changes, becomes aggressive, or makes demands — block and report immediately.
  • Unsolicited promotional messages from connections are a violation of our Terms. Report them.
  • Blocking a user prevents them from seeing your profile and messaging you. Use it freely.

6. Scams & Fraud to Watch For

Investment Scams
Promises of high returns on investments or "exclusive opportunities." Legitimate investors do not solicit members of a social network.
Romance Scams
Building emotional trust over weeks then asking for money for an "emergency." Always verify who you are actually speaking to.
Impersonation
Fake profiles claiming to be celebrities, government officials, or well-known business figures. Check profile age and connection count.
Business Opportunity Fraud
Pyramid schemes, MLM recruitment, or requests to recruit others for a fee. These are prohibited on FST.
Fake Job Offers
Job offers that require you to pay upfront fees, training costs, or equipment deposits. Legitimate employers do not charge candidates.
Phishing
Messages with links claiming to update your account, verify your identity, or claim a prize. FST never sends such messages.
Golden rule: If someone you met on FST asks you for money, to share financial details, or to recruit others — stop all contact and report it immediately via Feedback.

7. Product Listings

FST allows members to display up to 10 products on their profile. No financial transactions take place on FST. All product enquiries must be handled directly between parties outside the platform.

  • Never pay for a product listed on FST without meeting and verifying the item in person first.
  • For a full, safer marketplace experience with buyer protections, use Frican Continental Listings — the official FCL marketplace.
  • Report any listing that appears fraudulent or promotes illegal goods via the Feedback page.

8. News Feed & Misinformation

The FST Feed aggregates news from third-party sources. FST does not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for the accuracy of external news articles.

  • Always verify important news with primary, authoritative sources before sharing or acting on it.
  • Do not share news articles on the Wall without reading them — headlines can be misleading.
  • If you see content in the Feed that is clearly false, harmful, or dangerous, report it via Feedback.

9. Acceptable Conduct

Genuine professional networking
Harassment or targeted abuse of any member
Sharing real news and community updates
Sharing false, defamatory, or misleading content
Respectful debate and discussion
Hate speech based on race, religion, gender, or nationality
Legitimate product display on your profile
Unsolicited spam messages to connections
Reporting concerns about other users
Impersonating another person or organisation
Seeking genuine business partnerships
Pyramid schemes, MLM recruitment, or financial fraud

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this platform.

10. Reporting Concerns

We take every report seriously. You can report concerns in two ways:

Report a Profile

Visit the member's profile page and click the Report option. Select the reason and submit. The member will not be notified that you reported them.

Feedback Page

For general safety concerns, account issues, suspicious messages, or anything not covered by the profile report — use the Feedback page.

All reports are reviewed by the moderation team. Action taken may include a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal depending on severity. False reports submitted in bad faith may result in action against the reporter.

11. Emergency Situations

If you are in immediate physical danger, contact your local emergency services immediately. Frican Social Talks does not provide crisis intervention, law enforcement, or emergency response services. Your safety comes first — leave the platform and call for help.
